ANXIETY DISORDER: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT PERSONALLY


Image result for anxiousnessAnxiousness is a day-to-day feeling and just like being happy, sad, loved and just about any feelings at that. A lot of people get tense when difficulties surface at home, work, and class or just about the time to make tough or pretty decisive decisions.


According to facts and statistics, Anxiety disorders is the most common psychiatric illnesses affecting children and adults. An estimated 40 million American adults suffer from anxiety disorders. Only about one-third of those suffering from an anxiety disorder receive treatment, even though the disorders are highly treatable.

However, Anxiety disorder is quite different from just feeling nervous about situations around someone. Anxiety disorder takes such distress and makes an individual helpless and unable to lead a proper daily life.

As odd as this may sound, Anxiety disorder is a serious mental state and illness. Because, to those who have Anxiety disorder, there is the constant feeling of fear, being overwhelmed and torn apart. But with proper care and treatment, people with this kind of disorder can manage their feelings and get back to their life.

Types of Anxiety Disorder

There are several kinds of anxiety disorder and it includes:-

Panic disorder

Individuals with these conditions are normally faced with feelings of extreme fright that strikes all of a sudden and continuously without awareness.

Social anxiety disorder

Also known as social phobia, it involves a kind of crushing concern about daily social circumstances. These concerns are often surrounded by the fear of being judges by others or behaving in such a way that might cause shame.

Specific phobias

This are simply fears of specific objects or scenes such as being scared of heights and the likes. The level of fear is usually inappropriate to the situation and may cause you to avoid common, everyday situations.

Generalized anxiety disorder

This occur when an individual over-indulges in some kind of unrealistic worry and tension, even if there's little or nothing to provoke the anxiety.

Symptoms’ Of Anxiety Disorder

  • General symptoms of anxiety disorder are 
  • Feelings of panic, fear, and uneasiness 
  • Problems sleeping 
  • Cold or sweaty hands or feet 
  • Shortness of breath 
  • Heart palpitations 
  • Not being able to be still and calm 
  • Dry mouth 
  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet 
  • Nausea 
  • Muscle tension 
  • Dizziness 


Causes of Anxiety Disorder

The actual cause of anxiety disorder is yet unknown but then, like every other mental disorders, they are not practically related to personal weakness, poor upbringing or character flaws but it is said to be hereditary in nature.

Scientist has however; over time declared that many of these disorders are caused by a series of factors, combined with the brain and environmental stress. Research has it that a continual occurrence of this mental illness “can change the way at which the nerve cells within this circuits transmit information from one region of the brain to another.”

In diagnosing Anxiety disorder, there are no lab tests to that effect. However, if symptoms tell signs of this type of illness, the doctor will usually ask questions about one’s medical background from whence he will base his assumption depending of the patient’s report of intensity and duration of symptoms

Treatment

Over the last few decades, there have been immense development has been made in terms of curing mental illness. Although, treating anxiety disorder is dependent on the type of disorder, one or combination of these medically certified therapies is said to be used to treat most anxiety disorder.

This therapies includes, Medications, Psychotherapy, Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dietary and lifestyle changes, Relaxation therapy

How to Avoid Anxiety Disorder

Stop or reduce consumption of products that contain caffeine, such as coffee, tea, cola, energy drinks, and chocolate.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal remedies. Many contain chemicals that can increase anxiety symptoms.
Seek counseling and support if you start to regularly feel anxious with no apparent cause.
