Otunba (Dr.) Michael Olasubomi Balogun, the Founder of FCMB Group and Olori Omo-Oba of Ijebuland is clocking 83 years today.
Otunba has come a long way from a young man with dreams of instilling the culture of excellence into every facet of the average Nigerian’s life, to exceeding those dreams and becoming one of the most outstanding bankers, entrepreneurs and esteemed philanthropists Nigeria has ever produced.
He was born like any other child. But very early in life, his confidence that greatness was achievable sat in his heart like a rock. Fate in his new faith, having been born by Muslim parents, began to create the pathway to this destiny.
Today, after many years in the sector, Otunba Balogun’s legacies are indeed difficult to equal. His achievements are numerous, but one which often comes to mind includes surprising detractors with his “can-do and no guts no glory” instincts as he made history by founding the first ever Nigerian private bank to be established in Nigeria without foreign direct investments or funding from the government of Nigeria. This has remained an enduring legacy.
Otunba Balogun is forever setting up rungs on the ladder of success for young people everywhere. He has awarded over 300 scholarships to many Nigerians at secondary and tertiary levels, including his annual award of scholarships to the best students in Muslim College, Ijebu-Ode, in honour of his late father; and another scholarship endowment in honour of his mother known as “Iye Subomi Scholarship”.
His contributions to the Nigerian School for the Blind at Oshodi, Annual National Marathon Championship for Disabled Athletes, Otunba Tunwase National Paediatric Centre-Otnpc- Ijebu Ode(an emergency children’s unit in University of Ibadan named after him), and so many others, all display his commitment to the welfare of the less privileged and physically challenged in our society.
We wish him the happiest birthday ever!

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday opened the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Several dignitaries attend the event, including Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Liberian President and ECOWAS Chairperson, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, former interim president, Ernest Shonekan, and President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina.
Other dignitaries at the event include national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, ex Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Aliko Dangote, Nuhu Ribadu and others.
Ex president Goodluck Jonathan, Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, Former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniels, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce were also in attendance.

The "Love don't care" crooner was one of the performers at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards yesterday, who gave such a breathtaking one as she sang this time and not lip synced.
For the red carpet, she wore this lovely outfit but Twitter user @Bintaaaa was not all in with the outfit, so she came on to bash Simi without realizing the singer had been cooking shii up for trolls.
Binta was forced to delete her tweet and apologize after Simi and her fans came for her.

Baskemouth's valentine's day show breaks record in London
Veteran Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth made history was on valentines day at The SSE Arena Wembley London, as fans came out to support and watch Nigeria’s biggest comedy export Basketmouth as he became the first & only African Comedian to Headline Wembley Arena.
Basketmouth thrilled the audience with a 1 hour and 30mins set which received a standing ovation from the entire arena. He did what he does best and delivered an evening of uncensored and undiluted comedy, coupled with a few surprises for the audience, which made it a Valentine’s Day to remember.
Guest of honor, The Mayor Of Brent was in attendance and was accompanied by the MP of Brent; Dawn Butler, who confessed to being a huge Basketmouth fan.
Before thanking the audience for their continuous support, Basketmouth took to the stage to announce that Lords Of The Ribs will be returning to the SSE Arena Wembley for the 11th Edition on the 11th of February 2018.

Floyd Mayweather and 50 cent to visit Nigerian club
The management of Rumours Club in Victoria Island, following its recent opening, the club has moved to ensure an overwhelming grand opening slated to hold in sometime in March.
The Chief Executive Director of Tettrazzini Group and Zzini, Prince Donatus Okonkwo, whose brand is a partner to the elite club has completed deal to have American superstars duo of 50cent and Floyd Mayweather hosted in Nigeria during the full operational club service opening, co-owned by Nigerian music legend 2Baba.
The billionaire business man, Chief Okonkwo has a long standing relationship with the US stars as pictured few months ago with Nollywood actor Jim Iyke at 50cent’s mansion. It would be recalled that the club had some big Nigerian stars at the soft opening last week with the likes of 2Baba, Wizkid, Tekno, Timaya, Joel and others at the celebration night.
It is expected that the event will record high profile media presence.

Beyoncé hugged the headlines with her pregnancy news and the pop queen is killing it at the 2017 #Grammy's.
Despite being heavy with her twin babies, the multiple Grammy awards winner chose to perform at the 59th Grammy Award.
She never ceased to perform brilliantly well as she wowed the crowd who were beyond thrilled at her performance.

Falz the Bahd guy pays #BBNaija housemates a surprise visit!
Big broda reminded the Housemates this week that they had a voting audience that they had to keep entertained in order to win and also that they should brace themselves up for a special guest. Upon hearing the news the anticipation was already tense.
Big broda’s special guest turned out to be none other than Falz The Bahd Guy! The Housemates freaked out and swarmed him screaming after he walked in.
After all the chaos had subsided he told the Housemates he was a huge fan of the show before blowing TBoss a kiss as she blushed. He then forced the Housemates to confess their crushes.
New Housemate, Jon confessed that he had feelings for TBoss confirming Bisola’s accusation that they were getting quite cosy and Miyonse is a thing of the past!
He then sat back as they danced for him and was so overcome with gratitude he started fake crying. No doubt he was throwing shade at some of our more emotional Housemates and everyone had a good laugh about it.
Gifty was also smitten with Falz. She interrupted him let him know she thought he was cute and she’s been watching his lips since he walked into the House.
TBoss was feeling the heat too and literally begged him to sniff him. Being a great sport, Falz complied with the her request and boy was she pleased.
