Google Allegedly planning a 'super Pixel' handset to to take on Apple's iPhone 8

Image result for google pixel 2
The head of hardware at Google has confirmed that the firm is developing a second-generation Pixel for the allegedly ‘premium smartphone market’. It is believed that the 'Pixel 2' could launch this fall
The confirmation comes from Rick Osterloh during an interview with AndroidPT.
‘There is an annual rhythm in the industry,’ Osterloh said in the interview.
‘So, you can count on us to follow it’
‘You can count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now.
Although the Pixel 2 is planned to be release around the same time as the iPhone 8, Google is however focusing on the upper price segment of the market.
The confirmation comes from Rick Osterloh during an interview with AndroidPT. Google’s second-generation phone (pictured is the original Pixel) would go head-to-head with Apple’s launch of its rumored iPhone 7s and highly-anticipated iPhone 8

Osterloh stated that ‘Pixel stays premium’ and the firm will ‘leave lower price segments to other manufacturers’.

The firm launched the Pixel line around the same time as the iPhone 7 was revealed.

'We believe the next big thing will be at the intersection of hardware and software,’ Osterloh said in October. And he also took aim at Apple, saying the phone has 'no unsightly phone bump'.

Brian Rakowski of Google said the phone was 'designed inside and out to be smart'.
He said the Pixel's new camera was better than the iPhone 7.
'It's the best smartphone camera anyone has made,' he said.

TECH GIST - Apple To replace iPhone home button with Fingerprint-Scanning Screen

iphone 7 plus touch id settings

Apple is reported to be working on fitting fingerprint scanners beneath the screen of its iPhone, removing the need for a separate home button, a newly published patent has revealed.

The patent, purchased by Apple as part of its acquisition of a display company called LuxVue in 2014, details a system of using LEDs mounted underneath a display to both detect finger’s position and scan its surface to be able to read a fingerprint.

Apple said in the newly reassigned patent: “When the fingerprint is placed upon the transparent substrate, the sensing IR diodes within the display panel sense patterned IR light reflected off grooves of the fingerprint surface.

Good-Bye to iPhone Home Button

When the iPhone 7 killed off the headphone jack, some Apple fans were up in arms. If the rumors about the features of 2017's iPhone X (or whatever Apple winds up calling it) are true, the flagship phone will be losing another long-standard feature: the home button.

Don't be too sad about its passing, though — everyone will likely be too excited about what's replacing it to even notice that it's gone.
MacRumors reports that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been a reliable source for iPhone leaks in the past, released a research report today hinting at Apple's plans to remove the device's physical home button in favor of a thumbprint sensor embedded in the screen — the first step toward a new biometric sensor system.
It's not a new rumor — the home button would need to go for the bezel-free, edge-to-edge screen design that has been discussed so much — but today's information gives some more insight into the tech Apple may be developing to replace its current Touch ID system and improve its touchscreen design as it shifts to an OLED display.

According to Kuo, Apple's current "under glass" capacitive fingerprint recognition tech won't cut it if the phone has the full-screen, button-free design. Instead, the ID reader will need to shift to an "under panel" setup, which would require optical ID tech. That might get tricky, because the optical sensors will need to be compatible with flexible OLED panels. That means new, custom solutions from the panel makers to make that system work — but Kuo believes Apple has the clout to get the system it needs.
Along with the new optical sensor, Kuo seems to expect that the rumored facial tracking sensors will be included in the device, which could be used to scan users' faces as a means to verify identification.
Kuo guesses the fingerprint ID tech will "ultimately be replaced by a facial recognition system" in an effort to make the iPhone's security even more stable. "However, if the technical challenges cannot be overcome, we believe a combination of fingerprint and facial recognition is another possible solution," he writes in the report. Once the tech is developed in future models, he predicts that transactions made on future iPhones will be verified using "a combination of the two steps of bio-recognition."
In addition to the home button overhaul, the next iPhone's 3D Touch tech might be getting a makeover. Kuo claims Apple may switch to a new, more sensitive film sensor for its touchscreen from the current FPCB sensor in the iPhone 7. This is another area where Apple will have to work around the new OLED display, so Kuo predicts a metal structural part will be implemented under the film sensor for more support.
If this year's iPhone actually arrives with a new display, new sensors and a stronger backbone, the home button's loss will be taken in stride. Just don't mention the headphone jack.

Nintendo to run 'Super Mario' For Android in March 2017

Image result for super mario
Nintendo’s “Super Mario Run” has been available for Apple’s iOS devices for over a month now and Android device users are still waiting for its release. Earlier today, Nintendo officially announced that its mobile game might not arrive for Android until March 2017.
“The Android version of ‘Super Mario Run’ will be delivered in March 2017,” Nintendo said on Twitter (translated from Japanese). The company also reminded fans that they can sign up on the Google Play Store to pre-register for the game in order to receive a notification once it is available.
“Super Mario Run” was first unveiled back in September 2016 during Apple’s iPhone 7 event. It launched for iOS devices on Dec. 15 for free, but players would have to pay $9.99 in order to unlock the full game. The free version of the game only allows users to play through three levels.

Just four days after its launch, “Super Mario Run” garnered 40 million downloads from the Apple App Store. The game has since become the fastest-selling iOS game in the history of the Apple App Store, according to CNET.
Although “Super Mario Run” for Android won’t be out until March, at least Android users have something else to look forward to until then. Nintendo also confirmed today that its next mobile game, “Fire Emblem: Heroes,” will be heading to both iOS and Android devices on Feb. 2. The initial announcement listed the iOS version game as arriving “soon,” but Nintendo has clarified that it will launch simultaneously with the Android version.

“Fire Emblem: Heroes” is a strategy RPG game where players take the role of a summoner from the kingdom of Askr who will need to gather allies to fight with. “Players will wage tactical battles streamlined for on-the-go play and level up a mix of new combatants and legendary heroes. Some familiar hero characters will become allies, while others will become enemy generals,” Nintendo said on its website.

Biggest Apple iPhone Leaks Online

iPhone 8 concept. Image credit: Veniamin Geskin
New iPhones have no secrets. That much has been true ever since the iPhone grew so popular it became impossible to contain the all leaks from its massive global supply chain. And now a new one is promising the biggest news of the next generation really is size.

Backing up several consistent leaks is yet another today from DigiTimes which ‘confirms’ Apple AAPL -0.72% will indeed supersize the iPhone in 2017.
“Apple will launch 4.7-, 5.5- and 5.8-inch new iPhone models in second-half 2017, with TFT-LCD panels to be used in the former two models and AMOLED for the 5.8-inch one...Global shipments of the AMOLED iPhone in 2017 are estimated at 60-70 million units,” the publication notes, citing its source.
It also claims Samsung will be the exclusive manufacturer of OLED panels used in the enlarged iPhone, supplying up to 20 million panels a month.
First things first, for a company which famously mocked larger phone sizes jumping to a 5.8-inch panel is somewhat surprising. Especially given rivals like Google, Samsung and LG have all downsized from 5.7 to 6-inch panels in their premium smartphones to standardise on 5.5 inches in recent years and Apple has done little to try and optimise the user experience in iOS to take advantage of the larger screen size of the iPhone Plus range compared to the standard model.
That said, I suspect the 5.8-inch measurement may include the edges considering the “all curve” display this new larger model is expected to have.

Send Physical Kiss Over the Internet with Kissenger

Image result for kissenger
You can now send a physical kiss to your long-distance lover over the internet, thanks to a new smartphone gadget developed by researchers. The device, known as Kissenger works with pressure sensors and actuators.

It records the user's kiss and transmits it to an identical receiving device, which recreates it for the person on the other end through an app that also features videocalling.
"Kissing is the most direct and universal expression of intimacy and affection," said Emma Yann Zhang, who worked on the prototype as PhD student at City University London.
"It's a way for us to bond and maintain intimacy in our relationships," she said.
"Also, it stresses reducing; when we engage in this kind of intimate physical touch, we have a lower level of blood pressure," Zhang was quoted as saying by the 'Mirror'.
Parents can also use Kissenger to give their children a kiss on the cheek when they are away at work, researchers said.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus to spot 6-inch display

Samsung, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 rumours, Galaxy S8 release date, Galaxy S8 specs, Galaxy S8 mwc 2017, Galaxy S8 vs iPhone 8, Galaxy S8 Plus, technology, technology news
Samsung may be planning a larger version of the Galaxy S8 with a 6-inch display. A report on Naver claims that Samsung will offer the Galaxy S8 in two screen sizes, but one model will likely have a 6-inch size.

The standard version of the Galaxy S8 will continue to come with a 5-inch screen, while the S8 Plus will feature a 6-inch display. That’s a bit larger than the Note 7’s 5.7-inch display, but the report states that the smartphones will have a similar appearance, due to thinner bezels.

The report, citing a source within Samsung, claims that both Galaxy S8 models will sport a curved display. This is in line with previous rumours of Samsung altogether scrapping the flat model completely.

Samsung did consider to use an S-Pen with the Galaxy S8 Plus, but the add-on functionality was dropped from the phone, the report said. Looks like those plans were shelved in favor of keeping the Note brand alive.

Naver also says that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will ship with a voice controlled assistant. However, it has been constantly said that Google might prevent Samsung from adding AI to the Galaxy S8 since it would directly compete with its Pixel lineup, which is powered by Google Assistant.
The South Korean company started the year on a positive note with the success of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Soon the company had to face a lot of trouble due to the Galaxy Note 7. But Samsung is looking forward to the Galaxy S8, its next-generation smartphone.

Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S8 in late February at MWC 2017, according to some published reports. Meanwhile, a report from Naver (via Sam Mobile) has said that the smartphone will be unveiled in April in New York city, instead.

List Of Smartphones To Be Release In 2017

Smartphones
The smartphone market has been stiff this year with the release of high ends smartphone devices, the likes of iPhone 7 and 7s, Samsung s7 and the exploding Samsung Note 7 to the likes of Hauwei, Lenovo, Asus and other top brands making up for a great smartphone year. 2107 however, promises better in terms of devices to be on the look out for. Here at theplaceng, we have compiled the list of smartphones that will be making huge difference in the coming year.
The tenth generation Apple flagship is the obvious place to start for 2017, with Apple expected to release something revolutionary to indeed recognize this notable landmark. It hardly seems a decade since the first iPhone was revealed, but in this 10-year period the smartphone has become by far the most dominant and recognizable piece of mobile technology on the planet.
Recent Apple iPhone releases have perhaps been a little disappointing, with the consumer electronics giant accused of being rather conservative with its efforts. While CEO Tim Cook presided over some outstanding financial success in his early years in the position, since then Apple sales have begun to recede, with critics accusing the company of piling things high and selling then cheaply, as opposed to innovating.
So the iPhone 8 is set to be a major departure from previous devices in the range, not least because three separate iPhone 8 models are expected. The new version is anticipated to feature a curved display and edge-to-edge design, while Apple will also likely improve the screen resolution of the device, include 3D technology in the camera, introduce wireless charging for the first time, and embrace OLED.
There are many other innovations already been linked with the iPhone page, which should be expected in September 2017.

Samsung Galaxy S8
It would be fair to say that 2016 was not the most salubrious in the history of Samsung, following the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. It is difficult to recall a bigger disaster in the history of smartphones than a major release which exploded on a regular basis and that was thus forced to be completely recalled!
Samsung will attempt to respond to this mini-tragedy by releasing two outstanding smartphones in 2017. And the first of these will be the Galaxy S8, expected to hit the market, as usual, in the first quarter of next year.
The Korean corporation has already noted in a press release that its mobile business faces massive pressure in the next 12 months. “The Mobile business saw its earnings decrease significantly QOQ due to the effects of the discontinuation of the Galaxy Note7. However, smartphone shipments remained solid due to continued stable sales of its existing flagship devices, including the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and steady growth in the mid-tier Galaxy A and J series,” a press release noted. Clearly Samsung has some work to do to get back on track and regain the positive momentum it had developed before the exploding Note 7 issue came to light.
Samsung must hit the ground running with the Galaxy S8, thus we can expect some outstanding specifications for this smartphone. It is even possible that this could be the first 4K resolution smartphone that Samsung has released, but regardless of this the Galaxy S8 should be the highlight of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.
It now also seems likely that Samsung will not discard the Galaxy Note branding, and will instead released the eighth generation of this mobile next year. Samsung obviously has a lot of work to do to restore the brand image of this particular device, but the Galaxy Note series had built up a significant amount of good will prior to the Note 7.
If the Galaxy S8 does not include a 4K resolution display, it seems almost a certainty that the Galaxy Note 8 will. Samsung has a policy of innovating with the Galaxy Note range, and we should expect this to be a particularly outstanding device.
OnePlus 4 / OnePlus 5
OnePlus has built up a significant following with solid, reliable, expensive and flexible smartphones, and this new release should be intriguing. It is worth noting that OnePlus may skip the branding of OnePlus 4, owing to the number being considered unlucky in China. Thus, the next-generation smartphone from the company could instead be branded as the OnePlus 5.

Early reports on this mobile competitor suggest that a ceramic body will dominate the exterior of the device, with massive updates in both software and hardware also expected, meaning that this could be the first quad HD smartphone from OnePlus.
Google Pixel 2
Google has yet to become the major player in the smartphone niche that it would undoubtedly like to be, but perhaps the Pixel 2 to can begin to change this. Many believe that previous Google Pixel releases are truly outstanding, but that the relatively high price tag has prevented the smartphone from becoming a mainstream device.
Nonetheless, Google is expected to update the Pixel still further in 2017, and this should be an adventurous and exciting smartphone when it is released. Because of the embryonic nature of the smartphone range, it is not certain when the Google Pixel 2 will be released, or precisely what will be involved. But Google would be particularly advised to ensure that the Pixel 2 is presented at a competitive price point.
LG G6
LG has produced some wonderful smartphones over the years, and the LG G5 was particularly well-received critically. However, the Korean corporation has never been one willing to stand still, and of course the company has confirmed that the G6 will not feature a modular component.
This means a significant reinvention of the flagship smartphone once more, suggesting that there will be big changes to the design of this mobile. An LG release is always intriguing, as the company arguably takes more risks than any other smartphone competitor. So the LG G6 will be well worth looking out for in 2017.
Finally, the welcome return of Nokia to the smartphone marketplace, with two new Android-driven handsets, will be intriguing to monitor. Early reports on these devices suggest that Nokia will focus on delivering outstanding display quality, unique design and excellent battery life to ensure convenience. Can Nokia become a major smartphone player again in 2017?

Switch From iOs To Android With Google Drive

Image result for GOOGLE DRIVE
Google drive now helps to switch between iOs and Android with ease
Google has an answer to Apple’s Move to iOS app, and it’s now the Google Drive app on iOS. Google is making it simpler for iPhone users to switch to Android by adding a new set up of backup feature to the Google Drive app on iOS. It will allow users to store their contacts, photos and videos and calendar events simply via this one app.

While Contacts will automatically get backed up to Google Contacts, events will be added to Google Calendar and the photos and videos will be backed to Google Photos. Google has a whole web page published as well, which basically guides iPhone users on how to make the transition. Here are the basic steps to follow for switching via Google drive.

Foremost, install Google Drive on your iPhone. If you already have the app, then just update the app to the latest version.
Open the app and then simply head to Menu>> Settings >> Backup. From there you will get the option of syncing contacts, calendar events and photos and videos.
Next just tap on Start Backup and watch the data being saved. Make sure you don’t close or exit the app or switch to another app when all your data is being transferred. That will stop the auto-sync.
Google Drive, Google Drive iOS app, Drive iOS to Android, Google Drive migrate to Android, iOS to Android, Google iOS to Android, Google Drive app backup, Google Drive backup, Google Drive iOS feature, technology, technology news
Before you back up, make sure your phone is on a WiFi network. Depending on the amount of data to be uploaded to the Drive, a backup might take a few hours. In addition, leave the Google Drive open and the screen must stay on, so disable any lock-screen feature before you do this.
Google also recommends that if you back up multiple times, only few photos will be backed up. Once the Google Drive backup is complete, those who sign in their Google account on a new Android device will see their uploaded data is automatically synced.
Google also points out that users can transport their Apple iTunes library to Google Play Music for free. Users first need to sync their iPhone or iPad to iTunes on your computer and all music needs to be backed up on your computer when this is done.
After that install Google Play Music Manager on your computer and it will upload your iTunes music to the cloud. Users can then finish setting up their Google Play account by creating a Google Wallet account. However, Google Play Music in India doesn’t have a monthly subscription plan yet like Apple Music.
In order to transfer contacts from iCloud, you can go to iCloud.com, log in with your Apple ID and click on contacts. Make sure on your iPhone, iCloud backup for contacts is on in the settings.
Click on the settings wheel at the bottom of the iCloud.com webpage and “Select All”, and then choose “Export vCard” option. Do this on a browser like Safari, and not Chrome. Then go to Gmail, open Contacts Tab, click Import, and choose the vCard file. Google says, “When importing is complete, Gmail will display the number of contacts imported. Finally, delete any duplicates by using the “Find & merge duplicates” function under the “More” button above the contacts list.”
Also when switching from iOS to Android, don’t forget to turn off iMessage in settings. Otherwise your friends on iOS will be unable to send you texts to your new Android phone. Of course with the new Pixel phones, Google is offering a little USB device to transfer all your data from your old iPhone or even Android device to the new phone, and it is pretty handy.
